Work Diary - Shoot 3
In this session i went out to shoot evidence of vandalism. This was fairly easy as there is vandalism all around the town. I feel this shoot was easy and enjoyable as there was plenty to shoot.
This is one of the photographs i took in my session, it is showing 'damaged' tape which shows that something or someone has vandalized it. I like the bold contrast of colours as i feel it makes the yellow stand out against the dark background.

This is one of the photographs that i took, it is showing graffiti on a building by a nightclub. I like the use of different colours as it makes it bolder. I shot the building at this angle in order to show the building as well as the graffiti. I like the way buildings can show human presence.
Progression; In my next shoot i would like to focus on the effect human presence has on buildings. By this i mean i will look at old, damaged and abandoned buildings as i feel that the deprivation they show can be linked to the way humans treat the buildings.
This is an example of the type of building that i wish to photograph as it shows it is old and worn.

Image Bank
These photographs are good examples of the evidence of vandalism and damage on buildings. It shows how disruptive the human race can be. I like the first image as the artist has drawn the two people reaching out to take/use the spray paint can which is on the sign showing people that they are not allowed to graffiti on those walls. This is clearly violating the rules/laws which have been put in place for that particular area. The second photograph is of a broken window which is showing that somebody has thrown an object either by accident or on purpose which has resulted in the damage of the property. The last photo is of a basketball court but the entire environment has some graffiti on the walls and poles etc. I like the way in which it has only focused on the largest and most detailed piece of graffiti.
These photographs show the evidence of light and how it can be manipulated to create an image within the original image which is shown in the second photograph. A single source of light has been used in addition with a long shutter speed in order for the person moving the light source to create an image so by the time the shutter has closed it will have created the final image. The first photograph is showing a firework and this is an evidence of light as it is showing the colorful explosion created by the reaction in the rocket of the fire work. By using dark backgrounds it is making the use of light much more prominent within the photograph.
These photographs show the evidence of ageing extremely well by using the contrast of old and young. The first photograph is showing a young person holding up a photograph of an old person's eyes where her eyes can be, this is going to contrast the two types of skin and age as it is showing how one is smooth and one is wrinkly. The second image is showing an older persons hand holding the hand of a baby. This is showing a direct contrast as they are right next to each other, this shows the evidence of ageing as it shows how we start off as children compared to how we end up later in life.
I like this style of photo-montage as i feel it captures life's journey as child grows inside its mother. It is showing all the different stages of a pregnancy as the child is growing, this is showing life experience as it shows how life is made and how the life and body of the woman is changing with the approach of the child.
These two photographs represent the buildings which us humans design and then build which lead to wonderful and architecturally brilliant buildings. The first photograph is showing a building/house as it is being built, i also like the reflection of the crate in the puddle, as this is showing the construction and process in one of the formal elements. The second image is showing an abstract building, once it has been made. This is showing the creativeness of some architects and how the structures and buildings around us have all been designed and thought about carefully.
These photographs link to the evidence that different types of weather leave behind. The first image is showing the reflection of a line of birds, and the shadow has been created by the sunlight, which is representing that the weather is sunny and that the shadows would not be there if the weather had been for example wet and rainy. The second photograph is showing the result of a rain shower, a puddle. The puddle can be used to show reflections of other objects which are not in view of the photograph. The third photograph is showing the result of a snowy day, i like the way it captures the footprints of someone walking in between the pathway made by the snow covered trees. All of these photos show that there are several different weather conditions and they all have very different effects and results.
These photographs are evident that there is rubbish / litter which is polluting our earth. The first photograph is of an aged coca cola lid, this is showing that someone has discarded it after use and it has aged as the time has passed. The second photograph is showing a collection of rubbish and old discarded items which have all been thrown and left in a river over time, there are quite a few items which shows that his has been built up over a long period of time, this is showing a disregard for the environment. The latter two are examples of photographs showing the evidence of the effect the littering has on the earths natural habitats for several animals. The third image is showing a can which has been washed up upon a beach or at the end of a river. The wear and tear of the packaging of the can shows it has traveled quite far as it has lost part of the coloring.
This photograph is showing a crime scene, this is showing physical evidence of a crime. This can be photographed for several reasons to either capture an image of the evidence or to be used later when studying the overall evidence.

This photograph is showing the evidence of how fashion changes over time, it captures the old style of clothing which would be seen as the norm in that era but compared to today's clothing it is very different. I like this photograph as it captutres the women in a very natural expression as they are just enjoying life and having fun with their friends. I like this style of clothing as i feel it is a more sophisticated way of dressing compared to modern clothing. The second image is showing a subculture/ another different style. It is showing the hippies bright and vibrant clothing and is pictured doing a symbol which is commonly associated with hippies.
This photograph is showing the evidence of addiction, this photograph was taken on a project looking into heroin addicts. this image captures the effect it has on peoples lives, this woman is very slim and she is sitting on a shopping trolley, which is a clear sign of a damaging effect of heroin.
These photographs are showing the growth of plants which is evidence of natural life. The first photograph is showing a field covered in sunflowers which is showing that the life of the sunflowers has developed over time and that they didn't start that way, it is showing the evidence that life has developed over time. The second image is showing the different stages of a seed as it grows and starts to develop a stem and leaves.
Discussion
When i was first given the 5 initial starting points i was leaning towards weather, and after mind-mapping our ideas as a class i was in favor of it. However after my initial shoot i discovered that weather was unpredictable therefore making it extremely hard to plan for future shoots so i then looked at my options and decided at evidence would be the best option as there was such a broad and vast amount of categories it could cover. As evidence is such a vast topic, there is a variety of different paths which i could go down. For instance i could choose to recreate crime scenes and give a literal demonstration of evidence. This could lead to the reasons as why people do such crimes and look at the evidence for metal illness.
For this i could use models as well as props. Another aspect of evidence i could look at would be the evidence of human presence and how we have influenced the world around us. This could be through the vandalism people do and how it affects others or by the buildings as evidence of architecture.
Another path i could take would be the evidence of life experience. This is one topic which has intrigued me as i feel it would be interesting to shoot. I feel there are such a wide variety of topics within the topic of life experience. It can be shown through the evolution of humans, fashion and even technology. Life experience can be linked to things such as addiction which can be shown through the remains of alcohol bottles or even the effects it has on the human body which can link to the physical and mental health.
Work Diary - Shoot 2
In this shoot i went out and focused on the evidence that people had been there. This was fairly easy as most things in and around the town showed evidence of people. i focused on rubbish and damaged items as these show that people had once been there.
This is one of the photographs from my session, i changed the settings to capture some photographs in black and white as i thought it captured the shadowing more. This photograph shows the evidence of human presence through the shadow which is showing through the evidence of light that somebody has been there.
This is a photograph is of a broken phone box, the actual phone had been ripped off, as it is sitting upon the box. This shows the damage that people can leave behind. It is showing the vandalism that people can create when angered or even among peers for a laugh.
Progression; In the next session i would like to focus on the vandalism of people as i feel it is an interesting topic and it shows a lot about the type of people in the location. This is an example of the type of photograph i wish to capture in my next session as i feel they show the extremities some people go to in order to express their emotions or for amusement.

Dictionary - the available body of facts or information indicating whether a belief or proposition is true or valid
Words to describe evidence; clue, crime, vandalised, evolution, worn, broken
My definition - I think that evidence means the remains or objects to show that someone has been there or something had happened. Evidence may be in the form of objects or people. Evidence is left as a consequence of an action i.e hurricanes leave a path of broken homes where it has travelled.

This photograph is a good example of evidence of vandalism, it is showing an initial prominent piece of art but in the back ground there are several further graffiti images. I like the way it shows graffiti in such a natural surrounding.
This photograph is a good example of the evidence of light and also evidence of evolution. The use of the slow shutter speed captures the movement of light around people crouching in different ways in a similar way to the evolution chain.
This photograph is a good example of ageing, it is showing a female adult holding a photograph of an aged females eyes in the place where her own should be. It is showing a good contrast between old and young.
This photograph is showing ageing through litter. It is an old worn bottle cap left on the floor, it shows that somebody was once there and that they were drinking coke, it is evidence of human presence as they leave rubbish behind .
